St. Hild's is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people; we expect all staff, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment.
Advanced electronic security
The aim of our security system is to make St. Hild's a safe and secure environment for all students, staff and authorised visitors, without becoming a fortress. Electronically-operated doors enable access to the building to be closely monitored and controlled. During the day, visitors can enter the building only through the main reception doors which are controlled by reception staff.
The school is extensively monitored by a large number of CCTV cameras, both inside and outside the building. Pictures from all cameras are continuously recorded, and can be replayed to show detailed, full-screen images.
Each student is allocated a personal locker for storage of outdoor coats etc., packed lunches, P.E. Kit and other equipment. Replacements for lost locker keys are charged at £2.00. Students are responsible for their own property – the school will not be responsible for any loss or damage.
Regular fire practices are held to ensure that everyone can evacuate the building quickly, calmly and safely. When the fire alarm sounds, all electronically-controlled doors are automatically unlocked. Special arrangements are in place for certain SEND students and also for students with temporary disabilities. Details
Illness, accidents and emergencies
We have a number of qualified first-aiders in school, whose qualifications are regularly updated.
There are well-established systems and procedures in place to cater for situations where a student becomes unwell or suffers an injury. All procedures are designed with the welfare of the student as the first priority, and parents/carers will be contacted where appropriate.
